224. Laban Stafford
...It is clear that Laban Stafford was a thriflty and well-known citizen of his time. He rendered considerable service to the Colonies during the American Revolutionary War. He reared a large family of boys and girls, who married into some of the best families of the area. He owned approximately 2,000 acres of land along the Hyco and Cobb Creeks, near Leasburg, North Carolina and owned many slaves.

244. Absalom Hicks
Absalom Hicks was born circa 1735. He married May Harris, daughter of Capt. Sherwood Harris, Sr. and Jane ?? on 20 April 1760 at Goochland Co, VA. He was listed on the 1769 Granville Co, NC census index along with Robert, Samuel, Stephen and William Hicks. He wrote his will leaving to his wife all of the estate after debts are paid and if she marry again, she is to have only a child's part, that is with children already born to the marriage; all else to the children.
